Job title: Stores Operative
Location: Devonport, Plymouth
Working pattern: 38hrs week (Monday–Friday)
Salary: £13.02 - £15.00 p/h
We are looking for a Stores Operative to join our Logistics and Stores team on a temporary fixed term contract to cover maternity. The role is to support the Logistics and Resource Manager in coordinating and controlling the provision of all assets, equipment plant machinery and consumables in direct support of the Kaefer contracts in the marine operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for updating and reporting on delivery, inventory levels and dispatch requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring carrier performance, reporting to the Logistics and Resource Manager any handling performance issues and concerns.
- Responsible for monitoring stock movements and providing information for the monthly reports to the Logistics and Resource Manager
- Enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, working to business processes, looking for opportunities to expand systems.
- Move materials, goods and products to ensure that they are in the right place to meet customer demand.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Promote the Shared Values of Kaefer - Ambition, Team Spirit, Respect and Reliability and carry out their role in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws
- Responsible for facilitating the shipping of equipment from one destination to another
- Responsible for receiving products and coordinating delivery
- Responsible for overseeing preparation of loads for shipment/transportation across the site.
- Responsible for highlighting opportunities for savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process to the Logistics and Resource Manager
- Responsible for ensuring stores capacity is kept at optimal levels by reporting to the Logistics and Resource Supervisor any shortfalls.
- Responsible for acting as contact point for the customer on all logistic and delivery matters and carries out any administration required
- Responsible for adhering to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure safety and wellbeing of self, other staff and visitors.
- Responsible for ensuring that all materials and equipment associated with the operational need of the business are tested, recorded, reported as to conform to statutory and regulatory law, guidance and best practice.
- Responsible for carrying out inventories as required by the Logistics and Resource Manager of equipment and materials associated with the operational need of the business.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

- Experience of working in logistics, supply chain with a good knowledge of logistics processes and procedures preferred but not essential.

- Computer literate (Word, Excel and associated software packages for the Logistic Division).
