We are seeking a First Attack Fire Fighter (FAFF) to join our Devonport, Plymouth team on a permanent contract. In this vital role, you will serve as the first responder to emergencies onboard HM Warships, utilising lifesaving equipment, administering first aid, and operating fire safety apparatus. You will also play a key part in supporting our client’s commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and clean working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Always adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Conduct security and fire safety rounds in engine rooms and general vessel compartments, transiting up and down ladders.
  • Report any Health & Safety concerns or breaches in line with company policies.
  • Carry out FAFF duties as part of the day-to-day FAFF/Security operations, under the direction of the IC1 and FAFF Supervisor.
  • Complete daily FAFF/Security routines and inspections, ensuring all equipment is checked and any defects are promptly reported to the IC1 and FAFF Supervisor.
  • Participate in daily training sessions arranged by your IC1 and FAFF Supervisor to maintain SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) status.
  • Act as the designated emergency response person during site evacuations and muster events.
  • Promote and uphold the KAEFER safety culture through professional conduct and safe working practices.
  • Be willing to undertake any reasonable additional duties that support the company’s operations and objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of a naval dockyard environment would be desirable but not essential.
  • KAEFER will train you to the highest standards to facilitate FAFF support. This is a great role for those who have thought of firefighting or marine support vocations. KAEFER will give you the guidance and tools to secure an exciting career in industrial services.
  • No experience is required as all training will be given

 

Please note that:

 

  • Drug & Alcohol testing is part of our induction.
  • Candidates working in the dockyard must complete a DBS check which we will assist with.
  • Candidates working inside of the dockyard must complete a basic personnel security standard (BPSS) check, which we will assist with but needs to be completed prior to your induction date at one of our drop-in sessions that will be communicated with you.
  • At your induction you will be required to bring certain pieces of supporting documentationin relation to the above
