The Opportunity

Join our growing team at the Shell St Fergus Gas Terminal! We’re seeking a Coatings Supervisor to take on a full-time, core position within our KAEFER team, contributing to an exciting and dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Coatings Supervisor, you will oversee all aspects of surface preparation and coating application, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. You’ll lead a team of painter, blasters & PFP applicators to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget. Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting and looks for opportunities to expand systems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws.

 

Accountable for carrying out the following Daily Activities: 

  1. Check all operatives are wearing the correct PPE for allocated tasks and that they are “Fit for Purpose” 
    2. All team members have signed onto all the RAMs associated with the evolutions that could be undertaken whilst working on the project. 
    3. All team members have been briefed on the importance of Emergency Instructions/Procedures are known and understood. 
    4. Inexperienced operatives are placed with an experienced operator (Buddy System) until they have ship layout knowledge and have gained confidence. 
    5. Task Assessment has been conducted and that the allocated personnel have a Daily brief/Instruction to Work. 
    6. That all operatives complete a toolbox talk prior to commencing work. 
    7. Timesheets are inputted to the Admin Staff each week in a timely manner

 

Accountable for leading and controlling skilled labour and work crews engaged in all activities concerned with the blasting, painting and coating work aspects of the project
Accountable for supervising and coordinating activities of work crews engage in applying protective coats of paint to exterior or interior surfaces relative to the work packages. 
Responsible for ensuring that work crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment and the necessary materials to maintain productivity. 
Responsible for preventing wastage and misuse of equipment, materials and tools. 
Responsible for exercising discipline, at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness
Responsible for enforcing strict compliance with all QA/QC and Safety procedures, plus all Company rules and regulations.


Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Complies with the highest level of safety during all stages of work execution to avoid any type of incidents and or accidents. 
Promotes Life Saving Rules, taking reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others in the workplace. 
Identifies, formulates and implements “on‐the‐job” training programs for the workforce under his responsibility. 
Develops the general workforce by “mentoring” individuals so that they may reach their full potential in the practical application of the processes and procedures relevant to the “painting industry”. 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Oil & Gas Coatings supervision experience – 5 years minimum

 

Requirements of role: 


TTP – Industrial Coat Applicator Training or equivalent - Essential
TTP – Supervisor - Desirable
NACE/ICCOR - Level 1 coating inspector – Desirable
PVision Permit to work training  - Desirable
PFP Application/Supervision experience - Desirable
Effective communicator
Strong leadership qualities
Reliable 
PFP Application/Supervision experience advantageous
